Between 1982 and 1985 Alon studied law at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. During his studies was a student intern at the Environment Protection Service \u2013 that preceded Israel\u2019s environmental ministry. In 1990, Alon founded <\/span>Adam Teva v\u2019Din, the Israel Union for Environmental Defense,<\/span><\/i> a public interest law organization. As director, he initiated dozens of lawsuits against polluting factories and feeble government regulation \u2013 and several environmental laws and legislative amendments.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Continued to be an environmental activist and initiated class action suits against Israel’s most shameless polluters.\u00a0<\/p>

After writing\u00a0The Land is Full<\/i>\u00a0while on sabbatical at Stanford University, Alon co-founded Zafuf-the Israel Forum for Population, Environment and Society.<\/i><\/p>

In 2016, with his long-time friend and collaborator, Prof. Uri Shanas, he co-founded\u00a0TiME- This is My Earth<\/i>, a global initiative to purchase biological hotspots to protect biodiversity around the world.<\/p>

Elected to the Knesset, Israel\u2019s parliament in 2021<\/i><\/u><\/b> where he set as goals three important areas: women’s empowerment, Jewish Pluralism and protecting Israel’s Environment.\u00a0<\/p>
